Where should I get my adopted cat from?
When adopting a cat, there are so many options on were to look. There is always your local humane society or animal shelter. If you can, look into adopting from a high kill shelter (meaning if the animal is kept there long enough they will be euthanized, a fancy word for killed.) There are tons of cats killed each year because no one wants them.
Another option is to look on online sites like Adoptapet.com or Petfinder. I found my two funky cats and sweet dog on AdoptaPet.com. Remember, adopting a pet is a great responsibility. If you are a minor, make sure everyone in your family is on board with getting a cat. If you are an adult, make sure you are financially stable before investing in a pet.
One place you could also look is at a local Petshop. Petsmart has something called Petsmart charities, where they take in cats from shelters to have them live in the back of the store. They usually have kittens and young adults there, sometimes even elderly cats.
The best cat to adopt is probably a 1 year old. You miss the kitten phase, but your cat is much more mature, less biting and playful scratching.
If you want to adopt an elderly cat, prepare youself mentaly for a potential loss.
